Hey Lady, what's this all about?

We do improv with a difference.

Hi folks. I teach adventures in Improv theatre to the performer/wannabe performer out there. That is, we explore ideas and train in performance skills that will make you a great improviser.

We play around with things I've learnt from some of the great teachers & schools in Australia & overseas, but my agenda is always focused on better listening, connecting, being present to what's happening now, playfulness and discovery; anything that gets you the improviser, out of your head and into your body & heart. Have a lookie below at the classes and hop on board!

Classes for 2016/2017

Details coming very, very soon!......

BTW, I live in New Zealand now and am happy to travel to your town to teach.
I'll also be visiting Australia regularly so send me an email if you're keen to have me work with you!

Thursday Night 'Drop In' Classes
Final Sydney classes for 2016!
Casual impro drop in classes for people who can't commit to a fuller course, want to top up their impro & performer skill base, want more experience, or just want good times.

Thursday nights I teach adventures in Improv; i.e. we explore ideas and train in performance skills that will make you a better improviser.  We’ll be playing around with things I’ve learnt here and abroad and want to share, but my 'agenda' is always about listening, connecting, being present, playfulness, and discovery over invention; anything that gets you out of your mind and into your body & heart.

When? 7pm - 9.30pm Thursdays
FINAL SYDNEY DATES: 28 July, 4 August, 11 Aug, 18 Aug & 25 Aug. After which, I'll be moving to New Zealand.

Prerequisite:
For improvisers with some previous study. It's preferable that you have had some 'beginner' improv training, i.e. finished an Impro Australia or ImproCorp (Lyn Pierse) course, or an equivalent, or attended regular jams, training elsewhere. Unfortunately, these classes will be too advanced for complete beginners. Talk to me if you're not sure but in general, I strongly recommend that you do a course with Lyn Pierse or Impro Australia at some point - it's good for you! Not sure? - Ask Linda.

These classes are also suitable for actors who want improv training, jaded improvisers who need a boost or intermediate level players who want to play.

Firstly, get ready to loose control.
Control is death to impro. We need to be open to everything that comes up. We will get comfy with allowing fun things to unfurl; allow the delightful & the funny to present itself.

Obviously we'll focus on scene work and introductory long form  concepts (longer scene work), with focus  on allowing playfulness, out-running your brain, being present and aware and connecting with your scene partner, as well as character, emotional point-of-view and physicality. You'll realise that you don’t need to work so hard to create characters, do good work, have fun or to be funny.

The story, the show

Now that you know how to confidently maintain a longer scene, trust yourself and your scene partner, we'll start covering basic narrative skills for scenic long form.

Prerequisite:
These ongoing sessions are for improvisers with some previous study interested in developing as improv actors and performers.
You'll need to have had 'beginner' improv training, i.e. finished an Impro Australia or ImproCorp (Lyn Pierse) course, or an overseas equivalent. Unfortunately, these classes will be too advanced for complete beginners. As mentioned, do a course with Lyn Pierse or Impro Australia first - it's good for you! Not sure? - Ask Linda.

These classes are also suitable for actors who want improv training, jaded improvisers who need a boost or intermediate level players who want to play.
